Cleaning your carpet may not sound like a big deal, but it can actually be very lucrative.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics found that Australia’s carpentry industry has grown by almost 20 per cent in the last decade, from $5.3 billion in 2004 to $6.9 billion in 2017.
That’s enough to replace the country’s entire carpet industry.
The industry employs over 30,000 people, and there are about 300,000 workers in Australia.
The average Australian earns about $55,000 a year, or about $13,000 more than the national median.
The report also found that a third of Australians surveyed had used carpet cleaners.
It’s estimated that more than 5 million Australians have used carpet cleaning products, including cleaners, dust and water, over the last three years.
The ABC’s Victoria Jones has more on the carpet cleaning boom in Australia, and how the carpet industry is thriving.
